We strive to make you feel comfortable, safe, and at home throughout the entire detox process.
After you contact Summit Detox, your assigned admissions coordinator will get you started by:
Your coordinator will continue to communicate with Summit during your stay, as well as with the treatment facility you select after completing our detoxification program. If you learned about us through an external referral, we’ll also work with this third party throughout the admissions process. If you are coming through an external referral, we can coordinate with them.
Upon your arrival at Summit, our staff of medical experts and substance detoxification specialists will assist you every step of the way. Within an hour of arriving, regardless of your time of arrival, you’ll be assessed by a nurse in order to determine your medical needs to get you on track to feeling better right away. You’ll have a psych evaluation and meet with your therapist all within the first day at YOUR PACE. We don’t put any pressure on you once you first arrive. Often our patients arrive after long flights or drives and don’t always have time to eat beforehand so if you’re hungry or thirst, we have you covered. We cater to you in every way we possibly can to make you comfortable and safe.
To help ensure the safety of drug and alcohol withdrawal, we provide ongoing monitoring of basic vital signs such as your heart rate, body temperature and blood pressure. Depending on the nature of your situation, your treatment may also include the use of prescription medications designed to ease the severity of your withdrawal symptoms. In other cases, we may forego the use of medications and focus on supporting your body during natural completion of detox.
Factors that will influence the chosen course of treatment include the type of substance in use, the duration and severity of your addiction symptoms, and your general health and well-being. Most of our patients complete detoxification in five days to a week. However, this is just an average, and the process may last for a shorter or longer period of time.
Depending on your circumstances, you may need to sign a release that allows your family to confirm your presence at our facility. If your treatment plan includes medication use, our doctors and support staff will provide you a detailed explanation of what you are taking, and why.
Today, addiction recovery specialists recognize that effective medical detoxification has three main components. Each of these components plays a crucial role in the successful completion of detox and subsequent enrollment in an inpatient or outpatient substance treatment program.
